"Easy Eater"
2 x 1 ft Found and bought objects November 2021 |
Exhibition Text This prototype was created using various found objects and purchased items. My original intention for this prototype was to create an invention that would benefit my sick dog, Bella. I wanted my invention to make my dogs life

To begin, I started off by looking for materials that I could use to make my sculpture. I knew it would be hard to work with Styrofoam or paper so Instead, I decided to use cardboard. I didn't have a lot of small cardboard pieces lying around but I remembered that I had an old cardboard tube from sophomore year laying around so I used that. I started off my cutting it into pieces ans you can see on the left so that I could fit them together like puzzle pieces.
|
Next, I used another small piece of rolled cardboard that I got from a roll of cork and I used that as well. In the picture, I cut the long tube in half and that half tube represents the tray where all of the extra food goes after it falls off of the conveyor belt. Then I took the tube that I got from the cork and cut a hole in the top of the bigger tube. That way I could fit the two pieces together.

Next, I cut a small hole in the top of the small tube to allow food to be suctioned up and then added a cup for the food to fall into. I also added a half piece of the big tube to the top of the full big tube and that represents the conveyor belt. Finally, I added a little tray to the front of the opening to the big tube so that the dog food could slide in easier and not make a mess.
